Training in karate boosts self esteem, delivers proficiency in self defence situations if your training is properly applied and is great fun. JKA Karate East Lothian comprises clubs for all ages in Musselburgh and North Berwick. Run by instructor, or Sensei, Bert Stewart 5th Dan JKA, the clubs are affiliated to The Japan Karate Association W/F and Europe and JKA Karate-Do Shotokan (Scotland). The clubs teach the form of Shotokan Karate first developed and refined by the style's originator Gichin Funakoshi and his successor Masatoshi Nakayama. Karate training is suitable for both sexes and all ages, fostering a sense of self-discipline, increased fitness and flexibility and delivering enjoyment in a supportive and friendly environment. New members of all ages are always welcome and you can come along - without any commitment - both to watch a class or to take part in a trial lesson to see if it appeals to you.
